Advice on Htpc to the JVC DLA HD1.

Hi
I am going to hook up my Htpc to the JVC DLA HD1 and I am wondering what resolution to send it. I have a Geforce 6600gt card in the pc but I would think that the Gennum chip in the projector would do a better job on upscaling dvds that my graphics card. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

I would try both and see what looks best. You may be surprised at how good a graphics card and software player are at scaling/deinterlacing, especially if you force weave/bob for film/video.

Agreed - it generally seems best, if you're going the HTPC route, to commit yourself to the PC doing the whole-hog, resulting in a prog scan o/p on HDMI or VGA, particularly if most of your viewing is film based SD-DVD.

Re: Advice on Htpc to the JVC DLA HD1.

I know scalers have moved on since Event II, but I had no idea how bad some were until I saw them in action. I've always used HTPC and it was doing a better job than most of the scalers I saw that day (I was unaware of all of the artefacts that were being demonstrated).

I'm pretty sure that the likes of the new Lumagens and ISCAN models have improved a lot since then and offer facilities HTPC doesn't, but I wonder if most of those can be achieved with new software?

Re: Advice on Htpc to the JVC DLA HD1.

Thanks for your help. Now am I right in thinking that I should put the output from the graphics card at 1080p which is the resolution of the projector?

Thanks
