Will projectors soon be banned by the EU?

...OK, scary title. But I've heard that the EU is phasing out all products that contain mercury - and many projector bulbs contain mercury. Will they be banned too? Will we be able to buy new bulbs in the future? And if so, would they still contain mercury, or is there any chance of new technology being retrofittable - in particular designing super-bright LEDs to fit existing bulb chassis? OK, I know LEDs aren't there yet in terms of brightness, but they are getting closer by the day...

Whilst some bulbs contain mercury, I'm sure others don't. I'm equally sure that, if the current bulb to your projector blows, and a mercury one isn't available, someone will be able to sell you a non-mercury replacement, or you'll be able to import one from outside the EU.
