Re: SIM2 @ The northern Sound & Vision show

Saw them at the london What HiFi show and they all looked terrific.
Looking forward to being able to show my friends what I was talking about at the manchester show.
The C3X in the mix will be interesting Alan - are you going to show the C3X on the same size screen as any of the 1080 pjs with the same material?

Yes, we can't physically get the large screen we used at What Hifi into the room so we are limited to 10ft wide 2.35. We will endeavour play the same material on the projectors so you can compare. If the show is exceptionally busy we may run set demo pieces. I'm not running any Blu Ray just HDDVD and material on the UVEM.

Amsterdam Suite Ist Floor. It can be a little tricky to find us because there are a series of suites which are located behind the lifts and Ist floor loo's. Not signposted very well so check out the floor plan in the show guide

Re: SIM2 @ The northern Sound & Vision show

Is it just HD material which gets shown in these shows? This will be my first show and I would like to see how DVD looks, Alan will you be using DVD as well as HD sources? I don't plan on buying HD anytime soon but I do plan on buying a projector (if I like them because I've never even watched one) to use for my DVD's.

Thanks.

We use a UVEM HTPC which has all of our DVD'S on the hard disc, so it resembles what an upscaled DVD will look like. I'm hoping to get an ARCAM 139 in time for the show as well.

Hi Alan

Be careful with the DV137/DV139 in terms of HDCP handshaking, we have been having issues with loads of displays not working correctly. Just to make you aware before you rely on it in case you haven't tried them together...

Cheers Elliott, we have the 137 as a test unit and it appears to behave itself, but we only had chance to test an early prototype 139 some months back.

Generally we use the Uvem simply because we don't have to bring any DVD's to the show.

If you'll be using an Arcam player as well...even better
