Sharp M20X - HD or not?

Hi

I want to upgrade the dvd player we use to either HD or upscaling to 1080. Our Sharp M20X's are XGA resolution.

I have heard two different dealers one says no point in getting HD or Upscaler as XGA is limited in its resolution/lines. another says that it would be Ok and there would be significant improvement in picture.

The manual for the M20 says it will take 1080i.

What is true, as I don't really have a clue!

Ian

What DVD player are you using at the moment and how are you connecting it? Bear in mind that the M20 can accept component but only via adaptors into it's DVI port.

I don't think you're going to get much better than the Arcams. You may get a marginal improvement using a scaler/upscaling player but to get any real improvement I think you'll need to change the projector to a HDReady one.

Thanks Ken. At least it is good to know that we have done ok so far. We run 9 sets of Arcams/M20x's. I do have some grant money to buy a new projector and Dvd player and i will be looking around the site to pick up some information.

cheers
