Whats happened with my infocus 7200?

Ok had the infocus 7200 for nearly 2 yrs after an initial fault which was repaired it has ran pretty well for about 18 months but yesterday i went to shut it down and it refused....I tried new batteries in remote and the buttons on the projector but it just sort of locked up.
After 10 mins of trying everything i had to switch it of at mains not good i know for bulb. I left it to cool and went to bed a bit fed up .
Anyway any ideas guys? it was running lovely for about 4hrs before this, its got about 800hrs on bulb. The repair was due to a failing mirror they upgraded firmware for me as well so its reasonably up to date.
Do you think its knackered i have until mid feb before 2 yr warranty expires and could not afford a repair bill of thousands. The last repair was free but would have cost me about £1300 if out of warranty.

Re: Whats happened with my infocus 7200?

I have an Infocus X1 that used to lock up whenever I had it connected to a USB hub with the PCs power off.

Its a weird combination of things but in my case It would start responding to button presses/IR commands again if USB was unplugged or PC was turned on.

I eventually went direct to the PC, taking the hub out, then it worked fine.

Have you changed your setup recently to something that might be considered an "odd" combination of equipment? Maybe youve picked up on something similar to me on a different infocus model.

Hope this helps,
Jas.

Re: Whats happened with my infocus 7200?

Well i do view via pc which has had a new g/card installed.I have an external drive connected via usb which was on. I wonder if i turned setup off differently last night as i'd had a few I did try turning pc back on but still got nothing mybe next time i will connect my dvd player and see if it picks it up then turn off.
I an pretty sure when pc fired up pj just did nothing its as if it was in limbo with bulb on without responding to any input signals, a bit like a pc in standby that refuses to turn screen on and you need to re-boot.
I am hoping its just a fluke these things can happen i suppose.Damn shame there is no way of forcing it but still having fan cool bulb as well.

Same thing happened to me, had to switch off at the mains then back on to keep the fans running. Mine is also just over two years old with 680 hours. Even more annoying is a LOGO that displays top right of the screen ("INFOCUS Demonstration"? Nothing in the menus to get rid of this, even tried a reset.
However, reading the thread here, I have made a recent change. I bought a Toshiba SD260E, but the red on the component out didn't work so sent it back to Amazon (they were great but couldn't replace so got a credit). Bought another from Dixons. Identical problem
After several hours decided to try scart, amazingly the component started to work. disconnected the scart, got the same problem, put the scart back on problem went away, so decided to leave scart connected.
However, I wonder if this has given my LOGO?

Oh, BTW, does anyone have the latest firmware they can email me. I just can't get registered on their Web site, doesn't accept the details on my infocus registration card

Re: Whats happened with my infocus 7200?

Cannot help sorry..when mine went back they loaded latest firmware on for me.I also could not register pj..when i phoned them[infocus] i was told it must be re-furbished.It was brand new as far as i knew and bought from a reputable dealer.Anyway they registered it for me.Still.. i doubt i will ever know if it was returned to infocus refurbished then sent back.
It has ran ok since the power off problem..I wish i had thought to turn power back on so fans cooled it..argg!!
