DVI to HDMI on AX100 issue

After trawling these pages for the last few months I finally gave in to the urge and treated myself to my first projector. My Panasonic AX100 came on wednesday and I am loving it!

I am now trying to connect it to my Dell Insppiron 9400 laptop through it's DVI-D port, a 5m HDMI cable and a DVI to HDMI adaptor. The problem is, the AX100 doesnt detect the signal - only for a brief second when the laptop is booting up.

Any suggestions would be great please???

This could more to do with your laptop than yout PJ. Are you sure that the DVI output is enabled on the laptop (I think by default it is disabled)? I occasionally run my PTAX100E in exactly the same way as you from my Acer laptop but I did have to specifically enable the DVI output on the laptop first.

Re: DVI to HDMI on AX100 issue

You may need to have your projector turned on before powering up the laptop for the laptop to "see" it.

Once booted into windows, right click on desktop, go to properties. Under the settings tab, do you not have a second monitor that appears? It may be "greyed out" but if something appears, then it's a good start.

If nothing appears, then I'd suggest having a look in the laptop's BIOS as the DVI port may be disabled as PH001 suggested

Re: DVI to HDMI on AX100 issue

Thanks for the quick responses, I'll try when I get home from work in a couple of hours.

I did try with the PJ already on. That is why when booting the laptop up, the PJ picks up the signal for just a second. Would it do this even if the port was disabled in the BIOS? - sorry this is now the wrong forum to ask laptop questions!

Many thanks!

Re: DVI to HDMI on AX100 issue

Are you also sure that the port is a DVI-D one? - I've got mine running with a DVI-I adapter and it's working fine, output from the computer is noticed straight away.

Re: DVI to HDMI on AX100 issue

The port is definiitely a DVI-D one, also I have checked the bios and there is no option to enable the port.

Any other suggestions if you have any to get the projector working through my DVI from my laptop?!?!

many thanks!

Re: DVI to HDMI on AX100 issue

Doesn't your laptop has any combination of keys to activate the output ?

Something like Fn+F8 (or other function key). You should use that for activate the output.

Check that the resolution for the projector is correctly set.

Re: DVI to HDMI on AX100 issue

I can get a signal fine through other connections (dsub) so the resolution etc is fine.

Is there a possibility it could be a weak hd signal from the laptop so that the projector doesn't register any device connected?

Thnaks again and merry christmas!
