Bright spot on PJ-TX200

My TX200 started today showing a round brighter spot, specifically visible with darker scenes.
Is this a blob of dust, or is something wrong with the LCD panel?

Re: Bright spot on PJ-TX200

Sounds like it could be dust - if it was a panel fault then the spot would have a coloured hue. LCD uses 3 colour panels so if one of them was flakey then you'd see the other two colours mixed together.

Here's a link to a similar problem on a TX200.

I had the same problem, always visible on dark scenes or black bars.Curiously it wasnt visible on the black pattern in the Colour Uniformity menu.I dont know the reason,i sent my projector back to Hitachi(there were other issues with it as well) and i am still waiting for it:almost six weeks now

Re: Bright spot on PJ-TX200

Hi eric1403,
What screen surface are you using?
This is a common problem with High Gain screens but also, some lamps, after 1000 hours or more (sometimes earlier), can receive burns (white bleach) within the High Pressure (gas part/bubble) part of the bulb. This usually happens when the PJ is switched off without allowing it to cool down first.

Always switch the PJ off by the menu. Allow the lamp and PJ to be cooled down by the fan before switching off the mains supply to the PJ.

If your lamp shows faults within the manufacturers warranty period, Don't hesitate, call the supplier or contact the manufacturer and report it. Usually, they will offer a replacement but, some suppliers have stringent test procedures and if your lamp shows signs of abuse like 'switching off power before cooling or burning at the wrong angle', they could void that warranty.

Hope this helps?
AV Nik
