Re: Themescene HD72 or Panasonic pt-ax100

The HD72 is the one to go for if your "shelf just behind head" is at least 7 foot off the ground and you invert the projector due to the fixed lens offset. Otherwise get the AX100 and it will comfortably sit on a shelf at normal height due to it's lens shift function.

Re: Themescene HD72 or Panasonic pt-ax100

The correct answer to that question is never that easy..

What about screen gain, viewing environment, levels of light control, sensitivity to rainbows the list goes on..

If you are sensitive to rainbows and perhaps want to view with a bit of ambient light the AX100 light cannon may be a better option than the HD72.

The HD72 will deliver a better picture though in a light controlled room with dark walls no question, but don't also dismiss projectors like the new Sanyo Z5 which may fit your requirements even better.

100" image from 10.5 ft = You wont get that big of a picture at that short distance with the HD72. I am around 12.5ft and just get around 92"

not sure about the other PJ you mentioned

Re: Themescene HD72 or Panasonic pt-ax100

Had both of these and the hd72i blows the 100 out of the water better contrast better black a lot better black more 3d, if rainbow is not a problem get the hd72i,don.t worry about the offsets i have a 7ft 6 ceiling and have it set up with no problems its not as bad as people make out

Re: Themescene HD72 or Panasonic pt-ax100

Instead of getting the 72i you could wait for the 73.

It's due out very soon (before Christmas?). The US specs make it look better than the 72i, but at pretty much the same price.
