Need info on aspect ratio for AE100E

I just got my AE100E and tried it out last night.

I Noticed when I set the aspect ratio to 16:9 for DVD the image was smaller than the full screen. I am not talking about the band on the top and bottom for ultra wide screen. I am talking about black band all the way round including sides. I noticed if I select the zoom it looks fine.

Is this normal?

PS: The DVD player is connected via S-Video

Best Regards
Amelia

This is what I mean. I am not talking about the zoom on the lens.

When pressing the aspect ratio button if 16:9 is selected from a DVD source (using S-Video), this is the result

I would have thought if 16:9 was selected it would use the full image size.

Kind Regards

Just a simple question.
Is your DVD player set to 16:9?
You have to select that you have a 16:9 display.

Yes I noticed the same Amelia, a narrow black band at each side about 2 inches wide but only when I set the PJ to wide 600 (I think it was), but when I put it back to normal 16.9 it was fine.

I personally dont like the Zoom but I`m thinking it might be usefull with some of my letterbox copies.

I sugest you have a good tinker with all the different settings and then you`ll see the changes you Like or disslike.

I`m afraid I don`t get the time to do too much tinkering with the PJ at the moment and when I have done something it`s difficult to remember just what I did untill I get back on it. Bear in mind I am useing the Pro v too which has a lot of settings of it`s own too

I guess I may have asked the question too soon. I have only used the pj for two hours, when I first got it. Now its packed up again untill the room wiring, painting and electrics are completed.

In any case I will have a bit of a tinker once I have it set up again.

Best Regards

Hello again,

With a second look at the problem you describe and looking at the photos, I reckon it`s fine you need to set it to 16.9 then fill the screen by moveing the Pj and adjusting the zoom ring.
I dont think you will need the zoom function ie/from the remote control unless your watching a letterbox type films.

I thought originally it was a thinner band which totally goes when you change the settings, that you were talking about

OK I finally got the PJ back up again and magking you are 100% correct, I didn't change the DVD set-up to 16:9

Whoops

Sorry for the brain dead post
