PC through the PJTX 200

Hi,
Been reading these forums for a little while now and I took the plunge and bought a Hitachi projector. I have my shuttle pc plugged into it through a DVI to HDMI adapter. HD material played through this is as good as I expected.
I have the desktop set at 1280 x 720 which the projector reports as 720p the problem is whenever I try to play a game the projector suddenly says the signal is 1080i and it looks terrible, small square in the middle and really badly interlaced.
I can get games to play ok at 720p but to be honest the Shuttle is knocking on a bit and I'd rather play at lower resolutions, also some games don't allow me to select 720.
I had a game running fine at 800 x 600 fullscreen but this happened only once, the PJ also stated the correct resolution.
Any suggestions? It's really bugging me. I had an hour of Unreal Tournament 2004 cinema size and it was a real blast but can't repeat it.

Thanks

Re: PC through the PJTX 200

HDMI doesn't seem to be very good for PC gaming as it doesn't seem very happy with resolutions other than the video ones of 480p, 720p, 1080p etc.

My TX200 refuses to display an image if I load a game that I had previously set at an unsupported resolution.

This does not happen when using a VGA connection. I play most games in 1280x1024 as this seems to produce the best image when 720 is not available. HDMI won't support this though. You should be able to play UT2k4 in this res if you turn some of the other settings down?

Re: PC through the PJTX 200

Why not use the VGA input from your pc for games?

Anyway. Many games can change the refresh rate when they attempt to switch res, this will confuse the projector. You can hardcode 60Hz in display properties for all resolutions on some cards and also through the START->Run->DXDIAG -> More Help -> Overide option and force it to always use 60Hz for DirectX based Games.

You can then run most resolutions and if a HD resolution isn't supported in your older games then use the projector's zoom feature to make your 800x600 games widescreen.
