sizes of mirrors in different DMD's,(480 v720)

Are the digital mirror devices in dlp projectors all the same size,or in other words are the actual mirrors on a 720 dmd smaller than those on a 480 dmd? This would account for the PQ improvement due to the smaller pixels. If I'vegot it wrong (again!) what does account for the improvement in PQ?

Re: sizes of mirrors in different DMD's,(480 v720)

You could probably find out by dividing the pixel count of a particular DMD with it's actual size. The size often varies with the resolution of the DMD (the 1080 chips are bigger than the 720 ones I beleive), as does light output, but other than resolution and detail improvements that a higher res can give with a higher res source, up until recently newer DMDs came with improvements in contrast capability by having darker areas behind the mirrors, and flatter mirrors with a smaller or no dimple.

I'm not sure that a smaller mirror would make much of a difference since you could make it look the same size as a larger mirror by using the zoom. Both DMDs would fill the screen with the same size (on screen) mirrors and image.
