You would probably have more luck with this in the non-crt projector forum.....

I imported mine from Japan, i paid slightly less than that,so if that price is correct thats a really good price......BTW the link didn`t work for me.......excellent PJ for that price it`s 20% import duty, then 17.5% VAT,+ your carraige/ins. costs(probably around £150-£200)

The link should read www.avdaniel.com sorry
I'm not sure whether to try something like the Sharp, seems as though it would end up at £4,200 exc vat and around £5k with the vat, still sounds pretty good. If not then it's probably the Sim2 HT200DM ?

i viewed loads before i bought the sharp inc. the sim 200DM, IMHO the sharp knocks spots of the 200DM, the only sim 2 i thought could match the sharp ,is the 300DM, but that is £9000 and the only thing i can say is, i think the sharps picture still has better detail, but maybe ,just maybe, the 300 DM has a slightly more natural colour balance, but not anywhere near a £4000 difference, remember it`s only an opinion at £5000 i still think it`s a `bargain`.........i`ve just finished watching Black hawk Down ,on it yup still like it

'Scuse my ignorance (and it will show in a moment) but are there any problems importing a non-UK spec projector and connecting it to a UK power supply? Is it simply a matter of using the appropriate "kettle" lead or are modifications in order?
How do people cope with spares/warranty issues?
To me it seems a hell of a lot cheaper going overseas for a projector than buying one in this country, even after the tax is sorted out. Kind of makes you wonder why we have the name rip-off Britain, really...

Edward, no your not ignorant, and you are excused fairly sensible question, i had great difficulty,in finding ANYTHING ,out about import models ,and obviuosly the co`s make it as difficult as poss. for us to find out, i was lucky in that i have a friend who lives in Tokyo, and he spent loads of time trying to suss out the model differences......it`s a 9000 `E` in the UK in the USA it`a 9000`U` etc.etc. i have got a plain 90009but i have been told that maybe now they are all just 9000`s) but apart from 1 connection in the back (for a D4 connection...........don`t ask `cause i don`t know !!) it`s the EXACT same, and it has been checked over by a sharp dealer in Glasgow, and he says NO difference at all from the UK spec one.....apart from the fact it was £5000 cheaper, totally ridiculous, yea they are all multi voltage so all you do(as you say) is buy a kettle or computer lead and plug it in..if you neeed any more info just let me know

What continually surprises me,is how the hell do sharp and the u.k.dealers justify a price hike of 4/5 grand????
Its madness,im all for paying a slight premium for demos etc..
But a 90% one?????????
I bet in Japan you can pick it up for 3k.
As ive said all along..rip off britain...
