Re: Hitachi PJTX300... Looking Good

So what do you guys think

The new machines this year from Hitachi and Panasonic definitelty seem to be more of a jump up from the last models ie the 200/900.

Would everyone agree? Or is it all hype and should we rush out and buy the discontinued models which seem good value at around £800....

I'm gonna be purchasing end of Oct.

Re: Hitachi PJTX300... Looking Good

I still think the prices will fall some more yet with these currant PJ's on the market, like the AE900,Z4's & Hitachi. This can only be good news for us lot And i think that if you get a good HD projector now at the LOW,LOW prices then your going to bag a bargain And if you have a good set up,with good feeds then a 1280x720 HD picture will look fantastic !! I for one dont think that there is much picture gain to be had for the expence of 1080p !!!
But for looks wise, well the new Hitachi in all its glossy black finish looks the mutts nuts !!

Re: Hitachi PJTX300... Looking Good

cool sikenny,

I'm definitely thinking along the same lines as you. I had decided on a next gen player.... either the new panny 100 at about £1200 or even the new 1000 at around the 2 grand mark... although this would be a bit of a stretch.. I'd have to wait to at least Christmas time to afford it.

BUt I'm thinking hd for £800 seems a bargain, and as you say it'll only get cheaper before it dissappears completely... although there no longer seems to be the free bulb voucher...

mmm decisions

Actually the bigger jump came with the new D5 panels which were introduced on the TX200 / Z4 / AE900 etc.

The TX300 looks a bit like a cosmetic job to me - albeit a very nice one!

Re: Hitachi PJTX300... Looking Good

Well ...

Out of interest PJTX100, I seem to remember you not going for the upgrade the last time due to ther being little difference between the 100 and the 200 in a small review you done..... would you feel more likely to change this time ? and if so would you go for the 200 value for money or the 300? Cosmetic Jobbie?

Or are you sticking with the 100 for the time being?

Truth is i'm upgrading from an original panasonic ae100, so I think they'll all look amazing to me.

The trouble is with Northern Ireland you cant really demo, so you have to buy blind, and people's opinions like yours are invaluable,

Thanks,

Bill

Re: Hitachi PJTX300... Looking Good

Well remembered.

I don't think it's worth updating from a TX200 to a TX300, as I didn't think it was worth upgrading from a TX100 to a TX200.

In your situation either the TX200 or the TX300 would be a quantum leap I'd expect, if you can get a TX200 significantly cheaper than a TX300 then go for that, otherwise the TX300 is the one to go for.

Re: Hitachi PJTX300... Looking Good

cheers buddy,

i'm waiting on one thing ... a real stret price for the Panasonic 1000 and a review. If this is everything it's meant to be and closer to 2K I will go for that if not, it'll be a Panny 900 / Hitachi 200, unles s the Z4 comes down in price to match... Then I'd choose the Z4.

ah its never easy, or the right time to buy is it

Looks good alright

Would it not be better to have 2 HDMI inputs on all projectors now? With Sky HD and HD DVD on most projector owners list, just a thought!

I´ve seen both the Z5 and TX300. They were shown in an hifi/home theater event in Helsinki, Finland a couple of weeks back. If it was only these two projectors than I would definitely go with Z5. I don´t know about all the equipment used with the TX300 but it had a decent picture on a Stewart screen. But on the model shown picture was in a lack of a better word jumpy. It seemed to constantly flicker. Could be that the shown model was not the final product (hope so!). Actually the jumpiness made it difficult to evaluate picture quality so can´t say too much about this projector.

Z5 was run with Prismasonic H1200R anamorphic lens, a Samsung 850 or 860 player and a DVDO isan HD scaler. It was shown on a 1:2,35 Draper screen and both Star Wars Episode III and Indiana Jones - the Last Crusade looked really good. With Z5 the picture was well balanced, clear, I saw no digital artifacts or VB. Compared to single chip DLP both of these projectors still lose on the 3 dimensional effect of the DLP´s but other than that atleast the Z5 looks good to me. I´ve seen many of the previous lcd projectors (PT AE900, TW600, Z4...) and I think that Z5 is clearly better than any of them (Panasonic gives some competition). Both TX300 and Z5 seemed totally quiet but there was so much background noise that I probably wouldn´t have heard them even if they were 30db.

Re: Hitachi PJTX300... Looking Good

I nearly gave my GF a heart attack earlier when i said i was looking to upgrade my tx100 to something new! I bought it last november, but like most of the owners in here, a year is a long time!

Oh and many thanks to pjtx100 for all his help last year with my set up. I think i single handedly filled his PM box!!

Hmm...check out cine4home's review of the TX300. Looks like it's "dead on arrival" to me. Basically a TX200 with a shiny cover, and they haven't even fixed the chroma bug.

Re: Hitachi PJTX300... Looking Good

I Babelfish'd their conclusion - like you say, not very positive.

The PJ-TX300 shows the same characteristics, as its predecessor, in almost all ranges the PJ-TX200. The-speaking directly our result precipitates: The chassis offers flexible list characteristics, particularly the large optics shows visible advantages in the projection, the Lensshift provocatively however when full utilization a sharpness loss. The ventilation is now again somewhat quieter as only noticeable change beside the color opposite the predecessor, so that the TX300 belongs to more to the quietest its class and disturbs the film enterprise in keinster way. The Design profited from the black finish and works now still more nobly than with the predecessors. The operation was taken over without any changes of the predecessor model. This is not a disadvantage, because the combination of practical remote maintenance and clear and at the same time versatile OnScreen menus is to be found in each regard exemplary and up to now rare with a projector in this form. With the projection technology does not give it to any changes: The PJ-TX200 offers mode a good schwarzwert in the "Auto1", at the same time in addition, a large picture brightness for bright scenes. The in image contrast causes thereby an impressing picture depth. Still disturbing occasional "flickering" of the screen is with fast brightness changes, other manufacturers offers here meanwhile better concepts, so that the TX300 in this domain works outdated. Good factory settings and above all outstanding versatile calibration options permit however very good results within the ranges colors and brightness distribution to the projector. Once correctly adjusted the TX300 projects the picture on the canvas, like it the Macher intended, good passing on and DVD in such a way presupposed. Thus the picture hardly shows weaknesses: Dark Berieche is well through-drawn, equally brightens. The colors are strong and at the same time not surfeited or unnaturally. The image definition is precisely without over sharpening or double outlines, however only when progressive passing on. With half-images the projector is inclined to visible Unschaerfen. Unpleasantly the disturbing "Chroma nose" is noticeable when digital passing on, which provides for frayed edges at colored details. Such an error should not outlast two projector generations. Likewise the projector shows deficits still in the De-Interlacing, both does not offer with video and filmmaterial, particularly however with the latter, the projector what is already ordered in its preisklasse since last year with in or other competition product. In order to answer the question of the introduction: ", with the TX300 it concerns a PJ-TX200 in black color". Except the color and the somewhat quieter ventilation no improvements are to be constituted. Therefore "PJ-TX200 Black edition" would have been probably the more suitable name. This Unkenrufen to the defiance, altogether the Hitachi projector is to all still on a high level. It offers unusual Design, list flexibility, a outstanding control concept and a responding image quality. Unfortunately the model limps however in important details like adaptive screen, detail representation and De-Interlacing of the coming competition easily afterwards. It concerns simply and simply technology out of the previous year. For the sake of the Fairness one must set all this however in relation at the price: With a noncommittal price recommendation of?1499, - the PJ-TX300 belongs to the most favorable its class and is from day one at substantially more inexpensive, than its predecessor TX200 one year ago. It is recommended therefore all denjeigen, which expect a maximum equivalent in picture and equipment for little money. In things price achievement is and remains the TX300 outstanding.
