Luzerntech Customers - Please Read

I thought I oght to let you all know some information I have just obtained from Infocus UK... 0800 028-6470

I was trying to find out where inthe UK I could get hold of one of their extended warranties, after speaking with them have found out that Luzerntech are the suppliers of refurbished units, and do not sell brand new items. I was somewhat alarmed at this, and have contacted Luzerntech for confirmation.

I suggest that anyone who has bought one, contact Infocus to verify this information, and let us know... it certainly would explain how they can sell them so cheap..!!

Im sure this is contrary to trade descriptions, or consumer law.. surely they have to declare it as a refurb???

Mine is brand new and confirmed as being brand new by InFocus.

Luzern sell both and clearly state whether they are new or refurbished.

Ok.. thanks for that... but after 2 calls to infocus, they categorically told me that luzern do not sell brand new items, and that they are factory refurbs... so someone is being misleading....

How can they possibly sell something for 1500-2000 below its rrp???

When I initially tried to register mine I spoke to someone in InFocus (Holland) and they confirmed it was a brand new unit and the reason I couldn't register it was because the serial number hadn't yet been entered into the system.
Besides, even if they are refurb, they look brand new and come with the standard 2 year warranty so there's not much difference.

Many years ago one well known mobile phone manufacturer had a problem with charging pins breaking.
All affected phones were sent to a factory in Banbury where they had the charging port replaced, a new case and then stuck on a test rig and reflashed.
When they passed inspection they were promptly boxed up and put on the shelves as new phones...

It's discontinued and I expect InFocus are just trying to shift all their old stock before the 1080 machines hit the stores.
It's better to sell something cheap than not at all.

Re: Luzerntech Customers - Please Read

They mention refurb on some projectors, but they specifically say brand new on the 7210 listing - maybe it's just an unused return.
BTW did Infocus say they would sell a warranty on it?

Re: Luzerntech Customers - Please Read

Interesting...

I've already ordered mine, so fingers crossed all is well. I don't understand why they clearly mark just about everything as refurb, yet these are marked as brand new! Sounds like we are getting 2 different stories here.

It won't matter as long as we can buy the extended warranties.

Re: Luzerntech Customers - Please Read

I have just spoken to InFocus (0870 4432284).
I initially spoke to someone in Customer Services and then Sales.

I had it confirmed twice that Silver Plus warranty is standard in the UK.

So they come round, take away the unit, and give you a temp one until fixed, right? Sounds ok to me!

Well the wording is as follows:
"In the event that your product experiences a failure within the terms of the limited warranty, InFocus offers a doorstep swap within 24 hours of the reported fault (excluding weekends and holidays) with a like new replacement projector."

However, reading further you actually have to register the warranty which I did not do so I'm starting to wonder whether the information I've been given is correct.

I'll send an email using the Support site and see what they come back with.

Re: Luzerntech Customers - Please Read

Ive just called them to buy a silver package, and they are all out of stick, including the gold.. on further investigation, i was told they no longer do any of these, they only offer the Platinum Plus 3yr swapout for £360!! This is the only one you can buy from their site!!!

Re: Luzerntech Customers - Please Read

Hi,
I'm coming late to this thread.....but I'd just like to clarify...

I am from LuzernTech and whilst we do, primarily, sell refurbished InFocus projectors we can and do also sell Brand New units from time to time. We will always clearly identify in our eBay listing and on our web shop (www.LuzernTech.com) the condition of the unit being sold. We will also clearly stipulate the warranty that applies to the unit in question.

There is never any intention to pass off refurbished products as 'Brand New' if that is not the case. Just wanted to add that reassurance. We've had many members of this forum purchase product from us and I think you'll find that most have commented on the product quality and service.
