salesmen are lying dogs???

every salesman i have spoken to in the past couple of days has assured me that the arrival of a new batch of panasonic pt ae 100s is imminent. when i ask what imminent means in terms of time they say " within the next week or so" they then ask for a 20% deposit.
should i assume they are all lying to me or am i being cynical?

I think tou should assume that Pansonic are the ones lying about the AE100's. 2 weeks ago all back orders would be fulfilled no probs definately you have my work kind of thing from them, this week only a tiny number of units come into the country - who gets the blame? us 'Lying' salesmen! We can only tell you as good as we know! Panasonic should really know what their own company is producing and when, but then they probably do, just choose not to tell us! Good news is ther will be several large shipments in the coming days and weeks to cover all outstanding orders, but I do agree with you about the 20% deposit being a bit much!

Mind you doubt you'll have a clue who I am just from the name Hex

but back to the thread, most of us (if not all) know there is a problem with numbers of projectors coming from Panasonic, and in the end it aint the Sales peoples fault.

However there is the few that say yeah we'll have them in the next couple of days now give me your money just so you dont run off.

I was more than happy to give Ben my details for the projector and truthfully wouldn't mind if he'd billed me for it already just for the fact he told me what was going on, was totally upfront, and said as soon as we get any news/any in I'll give you a ring.

But be wary of them companies asking for deposits/their only trying to cover their backs but once you've paid you could be waiting forever for it/find a better deal else where!

BUT

Anyway back to the thread - I've mentioned on another thread about most dealers saying 'anyday now' to get your order. There was one I spoke to way back at the start of April (can't remember who I rang - it felt like I talked to hundreds that day) and he said the main batch would arrive end of May. Here's hoping....

Resist - i'm still peeved at being in the bronze medal position when only the gold and silver medals arrived

. Especially after the same thing happened way back in February when I was on AV Sales' waiting list.
