PE900 Bulb questions...
Basically my bulb is at 1849 hours and it's flashing red in the system menu because it's nearing 2000 (i believe i remember reading that the bulbs auto switch off at 2000).
1. i heard that it can be bypassed (take out the bulb and put it back in?)
2. if it does get bypassed and it blows after 2000 hours could it dammage my projector?
3. I just started using the dynamic setting because some films are too dark even with contrast and brightness upped. However the extra brightness will probably kill the bulb faster.
4. where the hell do you buy bulbs for this projector because i can't find any places.
had the projector since mid december and got good hours out of this bulb, and it's still pretty damn bright (with dynamic very bright) so i think it may last abit longer. However i think i need a just incase bulb now.
Thanks for any help!

Crikey... that's 10 hours a day of projector 'ON' time...
If that's not a recommendation for the quality of the AE900 I don't know what is... definitely have to buy this PJ I think, might do the 'pay a bit extra and get a spare bulb' offer from pixmania - looks about the best deal.

I thought these bulbs lasted 3000 hours? What does "auto switch off" mean? The bulb stops at 2000?
I also use dynamic setting as I find the others setting too dull. Luckily, I've only done 12 hours on the bulb so far. Only got my projector last Friday!!

I think 2000 is dynamic and 3000 is eco - thats the norm

Well no matter what setting i use it's still flashing red, i think it flashes red to warn you to buy a another bulb. I'm still sure that they shut off at 2000 hours to stop the bulb from exploding. However from what i remember you can simply reset the timer be reinserting the bulb.
I hope something soon comes out to replace bulbs, that or make them cheaper as you can get bulbs in DLP sets which last 8000 hours but in projectors they last 2000-3000? (bad case sometimes alot less). What's up with that.

I wouldn't expect it to stop flashing you've reached the limit of the higher bulb setting. If you had used low lamp mode you would have 1000 hours left but you cant have 2000 of one then 1000 of the other!
The reason is the bulbs in projectors have to be so much brighter. i agree they should be cheaper.

I used lower settings for the first `1849 hours ¬¬ i only just switched to dynamic.
I still think the bulb auto turns off at 2000 hours no matter what the setting.

Ah, well I don't know then! Does the lamp say low mode: 1849 hrs Dynamic: 10 or whatever or does it just say bulb hours?

I think when you are in dynamic mode (high lamp) it adds 1.5 hours to the counter for every hour of on time, but not sure about that. In which case, the counter would be the same for both low and high settings.

I think you're onto something there. I'm running my projector on "Dynamic" and "High" lamp and I thought the "hours used" amount in the menu seemed to be running faster than I felt I was watching it....about 50% or so. It was just a feeling I had. Your theory makes sense. I think I'll switch to "Low" lamp as it doesn't seem to make that much difference to be honest.
