Connecting PJ to STB direct or via DVD Recorder

Maybe stupid question but is there any disadvantage in connecting a PJ to a STB via a DVD Recorder.

Equipment is a TX200 (on order), Telewest PACE 4000 STB and Toshiba RD-XS34.

Assuming yes then take it that best connection would be via component output?

this is how I connect my Z3 to my stb via component and the picture is as good as my plasma you should have no problems at all with that.
