Help: Projector auto shut down in several minutes

HI,
My Sanyo PLC-XU20 always shut down in 2-3 minutes after starting up. I have been trying to restart it for several days. But it still self-shut down. Anybody had the same experience before? The lamp is OK.

cheers

Try resetting the firmware. Should explain how in the manual but you usually hold down a couple of buttons for a few seconds. Sound like the current one is corrupt. I can't see it overheating that quickly so I doubt if it is that and you say the lamp is ok (are you sure of this? If you bought it secondhand, it is possible to reset the hours even if the bulb has done many thousands)

Good luck!
Danny

How old is this PJ?
Seems to me it's the auto shutdown feature of the lamp. If it reaches a certain set amount of hours the lamp is deemed as past it's useable life and the PJ shuts it down to prevent damage. You can carry on using it at your own risk, but you need to reset the lamp life meter.

It may well be overheating. Is the pj very close to a rear wall or does the filter need cleaning? These two things can lead to overheating and auto shutdown.

It may sound stupid, but do you have a signal going to the projector when it shuts down? Many projectors have an auto shut down function when no signal has been detected for a few minutes.
