AE900 24/48Hz
Anyone know if this can be achieved at native resolution over HDMI?
According to the manual, 50Hz and 60Hz are possible at 720p and 24Hz is possible at 1080p.
Also, does anyone know why the 1080i/p modes are described as "AA" quality. Is it because a three-quarters image size is a clean scale?

For judder-free display of NTSC movie material recorded at 24fps. Either 24, 48, or even 72Hz would do. (I have a Crystalio scaler that would produce a suitable output from such material using 3:2 pulldown to obtain the original frames).

Ive not been able to get a 24/48 or 72 working on the ae500 i have here over dvi, but ive just checked out the 900 manual and it is listed as possible.
have you tried running your pc into it and attempting the res from there?
it would be nice to have the ability to do it as both HD-DVD and Bluray encode their movies on disk at 1080/24fps (as far as im aware).

When English ones surface they may be 1080p25 though, making it much easier

Hmm. I do wonder about the AE900 though. One manufacturer's enlightenment does not always stretch to another's...

but then youve got to ask - what kind of image malarky has gone on to the original to produce 25fps when the original was 24fps?
i think we'll see 24 as the standard encoded film rate on the disks, with the players doing whatever needs to be done to make them compatible with most peoples carp cheapo tvs.
quality always takes a hit when people start messing around with the source.

A 4% speed up, you may notice runtimes on pal dvds are shorter than their ntsc counterparts. Much better than horrible 3:2 pulldown judder everyone has to live with in the US

Just remember though, that just because a PJ (or LCD or plasma) will accept a certain refresh rate that doesn't mean that it's not internally converting it to something else (typically 60Hz) internally.
To check this you need a program called "JudderTest".
