Odeon World Cup

Anyone else going to an Odeon to watch a world cup game? I'm going to Covent Garden to see England vs. Paraguay on June 10th, I've heard they have 50ft screens, anyone know what projectors they use?

Cheers

yeah, big f**koff ones lol. and the pixel count!? must be massive to avoide screendoor ect. unless they intend to use dlp...i expect the really expensive dlps have fast colors wheels to avoide rainbow/headaches. but the best bet (and the one they will probably use) is crt, with 3 seperate tubes...its still suposed to be the best picture...

3 chip DLPs 2048x1536 possibly 1280x1024 if you get stuck with an older model.

sounds pretty cool, i'll try and take a camera and upload the pics to show people what it was like. (assuming i wont get arrested for "Pirating the football", even though it's on the bbc!)

If anyone is still interested in going visit the odeon site and book online

btw they are getting their feeds from Euro 1080 so i guess it'll be in 1080i or p and i heard they spent £150,000 on the tech, assuming that's per cinema.

I went to the Guildford odeon the other day to see da vinci code and saw obvious pixel structure it was very annoying and very digital. Shame really!

Surprisingly my local Odeon isn't showing the world cup, but they've not really done anything with the place since '66 so I can't say that I'm shocked at the continuing lack of investment.

Not been there since Jurrasic Park came out anyway, and got a refund then as the sound was awful.

I'm sure it will be a very interactive experience. We watched a footie match at The Hackney Empire (World Cup before last maybe?). The combination of a bar, massive TV screen and big cheering audience made it the 2nd best football experience I've had - the 1st was watching Leicester City bet Man U 3-1 at home when I was 10 or 11 :D
