Free view box to Projector

Hi

Complete newbiw at this so looking for some advice

I am trying ro connect a freeview digital box(Alba DVB) to an NEC VT460 to show the world cup games at work

I have a Nikkai 5M scart to s-video cable from the back of the free view box to the projector, the signal comes through, but only in black and white, i have played with all the s-video settings and they are all in black and white

Anyone have any ideas why this would be??

Thanks

Your Freeview box is only out putting a composite video signal not an S-Video signal, hence the black and white picture. You could either purchase a SCART to Composite lead from the usual suspects, or you can use a cheap adapter to change the termination on the end of the lead from S-Video to Composite RCA.

Does your Freeview box have a seperate RCA Composite output?

When you say you have played with the S-video settings, is this on the freeview box? as this is where you need to adjust the settings.
If the option isn't there, thenZippycat's suggestion is right.
Alternativly, if you still want decent PQ, Syncblaster cable or something similar so you keep the full RGB image (Scart to 15-pin).

The projector infact accepts all inputs except DVI.
Composite, S-video, RGB, Component.

I have the VT660 which has the same inputs as the VT460. You need to feed the PJ an RGB signal from the scart socket on the box, but the scart socket must be capable of feeding an RGB signal. Usually the one that goes to the TV from the digibox is true RGB.

You will need a 15 pin D-sub plug (normal PC monitor plug) to scart adapter cable or you could quite easily make your own as I did.

You can download the wiring diagram from the NEC site below.

Remember to go into the PJ settings and set the the signal input to RGB (scart). Don't forget like I did. It had me stumped for a while because I couldn't get a signal when I pressed the RGB button on the remote then I realised it was set to component input.

HTH
