Projector for a Pub (bright and cheap!)

We have a Plasma in our pub but a friendly publican in the next village wants me to fix him up a projector for the world cup (short notice I know!)

What's the best model?

I suppose its LCD as some people could suffer with DLP, especially with a few pints down them.

I assume it will be a commercial one (for the brightness), but do they come widescreen? Can't really have 4:3 in this day and age.

What kind of gain screen should I be looking for?

I think SD will be fine as he wants it done as cheaply as possible, brightness is the main thing.

Should have scart if possible, will be running off freeview, if not then component (where can I buy that topfield box with component out?)

Cheers

EDIT: Just found a few threads on it but nothing definitive

Don't discount DLP.

I've installed DLP into pubs and haven't had a single complaint. Bright and cheap.

Yeah, but only problem is will the manufacturer cover faults under warranty?
Only models I know are Sanyo LCD if you also buy their smoke kit or Benq have a 3 year smoke warranty, but they want you to clean the filters all the time otherwise they void the warranty.
Might be best speaking to Satvision who I think install most projectors into pubs around the UK? I think they use NEC's, but install them into Proclenze boxes. Awsome boxes for providing smoke protection, then you could put in any projector you wanted providing it will fit.
If anything, it might give you a guideline as to what projector you should buy?

Didn't realise smoke was such a problem I'll have to talk to him about that. The proclenze box is about £600 there is no way he'll go for that I think he'll probably just buy a new one if it goes all yellow

Thanks guys Ill keep looking.

I think Epson TW20 for about £500 is best, He doesn't have sky so only wants it for the world cup (after that it will barely be used afaik)

If you have a look on the for sale section on here, there are a couple of good CRT projectors for small money!!
I had a CRT projector in my pub at it was great !! Wide screen and lots of hours out of the bulbs !! (about 8000) Always worth a look !!
