Projectors just reduced at discount tv!!!!

Hi , just been in touch with discounttv and they have just reduced the hitachi tx200 and panasonic ae900 to £999

This now makes my mind up to get one from them hurahh ( I was toying with getting one from somewhere else but was not convinced by a lot of the customer service i would of got from pixmania etc )

Im a complete novice at projectors, will I be able to use my white matt painted wall for now until I can afford a screen?

Help me choose which one hitachi tx200 or panasonic ae900

Thanks
Darren

im the proud owner of a tx200 for 6 months now and am delighted with it. I use it for xbox 360, hd movies, and dvds. It performs admirably on all. The black levels are excellent, but be aware that you need a dark room for it to work effectively.

I would certainly recommend the tx200. I too was torn between the two models, and went with the tx200 as the picture was said to be sharper in most of the reviews. However they said the pixel grid was also more visible. (From 1.5m you cant see it.)

As for the screen i too have white walls while the projector will display on the wall, it seems to lose some of the clarity, and sharpness, you notice it more on high def material. But for temporary you could use it. (My screen is 90" widescreen, and cost about £130)

hope this helps

I've just sold my ae100 so looking for a replacement. Not sure which which way to go though. I've heard great things about both lcd and dlp but then the downsides aswell. I've just been on the discounttv website and both the panny and hitachi are still @ 1189 with 3 years warranty and free pixel check on the panny so looks like they havnent reduced on their site yet. I think I might just book a demo as I don't like far from bolton. Any1 else bought from discounttv or even had a demo there? What is the cusotmer service like? Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The price is without the 3 year warranty though, why dont you ring them and ask if they would refund the difference?

Excellent news, i was torn between them and a few other companies that were selling for approx. £1,000 but i was leaning towards discount TV's higher price because of the warranty.

Does anyone think the extra £200 (approx.) is worth it for a 2 year warranty ?? (i suppose its worth it if something goes wrong after 18 months but what are the chances ? ive never had a PJ before, are they temperamental ?)

Ive never really had problems with electrial stuff before but then ive never spent £1,000 on anything electrical before.

I'm not a warranty fan generally, but in the case of PJs (and washing machines ) they can be money well spent.
