Do women like projectors too?

Hi, I've been browsing the forums for a while now, and have noticed that very few women post. Also guys tend to have to persuade their other halves of the benefits of projectors I love my projector and had to persuade my other half to go and demo one - although he was suitably impressed! Is this rare or are there other women out there who are keen on AV stuff?

Most women I know (including my Wife) tend not to join in forums such as this even though they too are interested in all things AV.

The reason being that a lot of the time they seem to get the 'OOOHHH a women is posting on the forum...must make an effort to suck up to her or make innuendos constantly' from the majority of the male forum members

I don't think it happens that much on here with the female members (allthough I have seen posts from females get a lot fo attention purely because they are that) but it is very sickening when it does and kind of makes you wonder what kind of life the blokes have if they get so excited about talking to a women on a forum

Can ladieeees boast about how many inches they have on display?...surely not...

Sorry for being childish and starting the innuendos as mentioned above...the voices told me to do it.

My partner has no interest in the technical side. But she loves the end result.

Even to the point of putting up with a monstrous 35Kg Black Servo15 subwoofer in the lounge.

What a gal.

Mine doesn't like my new projector, says the screen is far too big and it makes her feel sick so we have only watched one film on it since I got it

well...
I think everyone even close to like watching movies loves the projectors...

it is just that most women have other priorities in investing money...

because pj is a waste (like any other homecinema type) since someone could be happy with 25 inches of the old world...

more men seem to be into technology...
and spending money on that...

but we still love em, and they can visit as here to see a movie on OUR projector.

I think, with all things it's a question of respect.

If my partner went out and spent £1000 on shoes - I'd be livid! But if she sat down and explained to me that
1) These were very good shoes
2) It was a very good price
3) She'd get lots of use and enjoyment out of them - and so would I
4) etc etc etc
I'd be a lot more receptive.

I actually spent a year researching our new projector - £1000 for a toy is, I'll concur, a lot of money. But by the end of it I had a sufficiently detailed "business case" to convince even the hardest sceptic :-)

What it comes down to, I think, is that men like to socialise around technology - whereas women prefer to socialse about important things :-)

As an example, my partner loves our TiVo and our Xbmc - but when it comes to online fora, she'd rather not discuss which cable suits which firmware revision of which projector. She'd rather talk about philosophy or Buffy.

My wife loves the projector but only now that it's ceiling mounted and all the cables are tucked away neatly in the ceiling cavity.
Once you you have a well set up homecinema I don't see how you can not be impressed to be honest.

I'm one of those women who rarely posts and is more interested in home cinema than my hubby.
Z3 projector/Arcam DVD player/ Denon amp/Xbox 360/Sky+

He whined and moaned about the equipment and cables until we put them in a cupboard at the back of the room (living room) out of sight. Cables are all hidden now.

I had to PLEAD with him to get a projector, but now he's quite happy to show off Sky+, DVDs and Xbox 360 stuff to his mates and he can't wait for Sky HD.

I've purchased it all from my disposable income, so I've not needed to ask for his permission, apart from the projector and fixed screen in the living room.

He doesn't admit to his mates that I source all the stuff.

I think women are probably more concerned about the movie than about the means to get it on the screen. It seems more a male thing to be more enamoured of the equipment than the equipment's purpose. Same with cars, HiFi's, you name it. Must be the way our brains are wired.

Regards

Mark

Hooray! I knew there must be some fellow female AV fans out there! My husband thought maybe a 67 inch diagonal roll up screen would be OK but I managed to persuade him that a 92 inch fixed screen would be much better!
