HS60 up and running

Pleased to say my set up is working- projecting onto a wall at the moment with a 120" picture, as far as I know I can see no vb or sde. Sound is fantastic from Kef eggs. Only problems so far
1. faces on dvd seem a little yellow on dynamic mode
2. when changing source from pc to any other source my amp loses the pc input when trying to return to it. I am using dvi to hdmi from pc to amp (pioneer).Signal is regained by unplugging hdmi then replacing it so I'm assuming the amp needs to recognise a pulse before it will display the pc image
3. gets very washed out with sunlight (off to get some blackout blinds)
Otherwise I'm loving it especially as my wife is a new projector convert after seeing the HS 60 in action.
Any suggestions on the above ?

Hi Towy Congratulations on your new HS wonder machine.

1. Don't use Dynamic mode, its either Cinema or Customise your own settings.

2. No Idea, sorry.

3. Sun is the curse of all Pjs. IMO you need to be 100% blacked out to see the full capabilities of this or any other PJ.

4. If you are using HDMI take advantage of the sharpness controle and ram it all the way up.

5. If you haven't already, make sure your feeding you HS60 the maximum 1280x720p resolution or you'll be wasting vital pixels need for big screen action.

6. Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Hi Towy

Are you using the amp as a HDMI switcher, if not you could connect directly from the PC to the projector (if the HDMI cable is long enough) I have a 10m DVI cable (7m max is recommended) with DVI to HDMI adapter.

Upping the sharpness does make details jump out at you but it I found it also introduced some unwanted artifacts. It's really down to personal preference. Most people have theirs set to min, but having seen Badass excellent screenshots , I have mine set to 25.

I must agree with Badass on the light control. I believe that with any PJ, absolute light control is best, although I don't mind a bit of ambient light for sports.

Enjoy what really is, for the most part, a really excellent projector

I find using sharpness can add edge enhancment and halo, as well as make the image noisy (and in some cases give it a processed look), so it may not necessarily be your cup of tea.

Gary.

Thanks for the replies
Comer- yes I am using the amp for all my inputs via hdmi so it is not possible to connect directly to the projector.
Gary/Comer/Badass what do you think are the best settings for dvd's. I will be using my pc as soon as I get a digital sound connection, at the moment I am using a bog standard progressive dvd player- I've got to say that I am very impressed with the results so far with very little tweaking, but then again I'm very new to this and therefore probably dont know what the hs60 is capable of

Cheers
