Screenplay 777 vs Sony Ruby Vs Sim2 C3X

If, in your dreams, you could puchase any of these 3, which would it be? Does the Screenplay still hold up after its price drop or is it old technology? Is the Sim worth the extra? Does the extra resolution of the Ruby swing it?

The 777 is much the same as the other 3 chippers of the time that all had the same Delta light engine. Great machine, but the C3X is an improvement in contrast and colour. Both the C3X and Ruby have pros and cons and although I haven't seent the Ruby I have seen the Qualia, and I think that due to technology differences (DLP vs LCoS), it can boil down to personal preferences.

If you want a larger brighter screen you will need the C3X or 777, but for better blacks and higher res (on a smaller screen) you will need the Ruby.

There are other cosiderations like how each technolgy renders SD material and how well they deal with 1080i etc, but it must be nice to be in a position to be able to choose.

i'm waiting for the 777 to drop to £6,000 then i'm taking that loan abbey keep offering me




i dunno which looks better as i havnt seen any, but i love the physical shape of the 777..lol
(dont worry, wouldnt purchase based on that before anyone springs in.....i'd do some serious demoing....at least 5mins....lol)

Er "in your dreams" mean't I'm NOT in a position to choose, I just thought it would be an interesting thread to debate the pros and cons of older, but previously very expensive technology versus newer, but cheaper (not cheap though) technology. Do things like the Screenplay have better components, for example, or is everything better about newer models.

I'm not sure about components, but I would think teh implementation in the newer models is batter - the Sim2 Alpha light engine is a major improvement over the Delta engine and that alone appears to have a large contribution to increasing contrast in the C3X.

That low hours 777 looks a steal! Also has a spare lamp
