Panny AE500 - Component input !!!

Hi ya all,

I've just jumped on the bandwaggon and bought my 1st PJ second hand from these forums. I thought that it was about time that the picture matched the sound and SWMBO finally gave the

I've has it now for about 2 weeks, and lived with setting it up on a box for the 1st week before ceiling mounting it with no Keystone. It is coupled with a 5ft DHR Screen.

I have been using S-VHS input from my old DV-737 and although the picture was good, i just felt like there was something missing and none of the screen shots looked anything like i've seen on threads on here. The image never looked that sharp and i just took it that this was a trait of blowing up an image from standard resolution discs coupled with Panny's smooth screen processing.

Yesterday in light that i have not yet managed to get a cheap JS Component buffer i ripped the Components out from the rear or the TV and hooked them up to the PJ. A couple of minutes later with DVE and i was totally gobsmacked.

It was like a total revalation in terms of sharpness, black levels, detail, colours and the screen jumped to life and images took on a kind of 3 dimentional look. Even the wife could not believe the difference a good set of Component leads could make.

I cannot wait to give it a go when HD comes out now, and although i know it's not as feature packed as the latest offerings i'm one happy bunny.

Been having a read on here about filters and may have a play as it's not exactly going to break the bank. I have a wanted thread up, so if anyone has a 52mm or 55mm Hoya FLD please give me a shout.

Steve
