Infocus LP350 lamps no longer available?

I need a new replacement lamp for my Infocus LP350 but it seems Infocus, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to stop selling lamps for them! There must be a few out there though, does anyone know a place that still stock them? Seems a bit of a waste to junk a perfectly good (and recent) projector due to poor manufacturer support IMO.

Hi,

You need to get your projector upgraded by Infocus, if it hasn't been already, if it has then lamps are available for them, we have some upgraded lamps in stock. If you let me have your serial number I can look into it for you.

Regards

Sean

Lets be clear about this - the 4800 (X1) that Infocus were offering last year is not an upgrade. When mine went in Dec 2004 I argued this with them and got a 4805 for under £500 and I still considered this a downgrade - lovely picture though.

Maybe I was not clear, Infocus were upgrading the projector itself for free, so it could take the new lamp, least that was the case last time I dealt with one of these, there are a few Infocus models that this applies to.

The serial number (post-upgrade) is SP-LAMP-LP3E. You're right Infocus did alter the LP350 to take a different lamp that didn't explode every five minutes. However the LP3E lamp ain't available - and as you say, their 'upgrade' is the opposite.

After a lot of ringing around I found a company that keeps older stock and had lots of 'em, so I ordered it:
