Talking best filter for a panasonic ae700 ?

what is the benefit of a filter?

The reason I ask is simple... I keep reading about them...and what is the best filter...

and where do I get one ?

p s- any screen comparisons of a before and after filter, anyone ???

Filters are used to achieve D65 standard colour without losing contrast.
From my understanding of the ae700 it has a setting which was adjusted by a holywood colourist and therefore has very good colour, hence nobody really bothering with filters for it.
I was using a filter for my Z3 but was not greatly happy with the results so I am now back to a non filtered picture which to my eyes is far sharper with much better shadow detail but it's horses for courses really.

p.s. I'll try and do some before and after shots but they are'nt really relevant to you.

the ae700 does have good colour in cinema 1 mode the rest are very poor, video being the worst but video also has the best contrast so the filter can give u both contrast and colour, will lose abit of brightness though

Hi,

I use a FL-Day filtyer with my AE700 and do prefer the contract and colour balance.

However a before and after shot would only be valid if both scenarios are calibrated properly, well as properly as AVAI/DVE allows us.

Regards
KH
