Cheapest place for a Panny AE700 0r AE900

As i said in an earlier thread i have £1100 to buy a new PJ which i have (with help off the forums) narrowed down too a AE700 or AE900

Im still unsure of the main differences between the 2 so i am just going for the cheapest one i can find

Its been years since i looked up buying a projector so can anyone help me with prices?

at Komplett the AE700 is £959.00 Inc. VAT

and at Pixmania the AE900 is £1 048.95 Inc. VAT

does anyone know anywhere cheaper?

Think those are the cheapest I've seen - try http://www.pricerunner.co.uk if you haven't already. Komplett used to sell the AE700 for £933 a few weeks back

On the website it says

"7% immediate discount on a selection of marked items with the mention "7% discount" valid on www.PIXmania.com website."

i have emailed them and asked them if i am entitled to 7% off the AE900

might be worth a mention that komplett are selling a b grade ae700 (probably a battered box. it states 0 hours usage on the bulb. might be worth sending then a mail!)

I'm buying one of the AE900 projectors in the next few weeks, and I've seen some sites are selling for around the £1200/£1250 - some with "free" pixel check, and one with 3 year warranty.

Are these two options worth considering, or should I just go with the lowest price?

Well a 3 year warrenty costs £179

so 1035 + 179 = 1214

So they work out near the same

http://www.prcdirect.co.uk/PRC/PRC.s...roduct/PTAE900

thats the cheapest with a 3 year warrenty i can find on the net, just make sure u select the warrenty though

Oh and if you want good service Domestic and General (which is the company used above anyway) are fantastic in the dealings i have had with them.

oh just to add dont go with just the projector alone, a bulb costs £150-£250

and u will more than likely need a new one or maybe 2 within 3 years so u will be saving money in the long run, not to mention other faults that come with projectors

Bulbs are not usually covered in the extended warranties...but they last 2-3000 hours so to need 2 new bulbs in 3 years you would have to use it 6 hours a day everyday.

Domestic And General don't list Panasonic Projectors on their website - is this something you need to ring about or have they stopped this service?

D & G don't seem to know what a projector is half the time!

And the bulb is most certainly not covered, we tried sourcing our warranties from them but gave up after they couldn't seem to get a straight answer or straight price.

Well on 2 sites that sell the AE900 they have the option of choosing 3 or 5 years extended warrenty and its with D & G

so surely if u buy from a website thats already sorted it out you should have no problems

Benji i had my bulb replaced 2 or 3 times so mine certainly was covered

Scumball i rang them up about it yesterday they gave me a quote straight away. Plus they know i have a Projector already becuase they have just gave me a payout for my AE100 so if they didnt do warrentys on PJs they would have told me there and then.

Maybe i was lucky and found a loophole

Hi,

I am a total novice when it comes to this stuff but recently decided to purchase a projector. Was pointed to these forums by a friend and have had a good read through the various stickys.

Anyway, decided on the Panasonic PT-AE900 and thought I'd let you know that Sound and Vision now have this for £990.00 inc. VAT and P&P which I think is great value. I ordered one, should be here on Monday!

Just have to find a decent screen now.

I guarantee you will be back posting in a few days...

OMG, WOW, Why did I wait so long to get a PJ, Best thing I ever bought in my Life etc etc.

I've owned PJ's since 2002 and put 3300 hours on my AE100, 9970 hours on my AE300 and 1450 hours on my AE900 and I still giggle everytime I put a new DVD on.

Your going to love it mate!

Agreed, calibos. I bit the bullet when the AE700 came out and bought one unseen, and have never regretted it once. Even on blackout cloth with a black felt border, the picture is stunning.

Cool, can't wait!

Always wanted one but could never afford one, still can't, but did bucket loads of overtime at work the last couple of months so I thought I'd treat myself.

Was thinking about buying a cheaper 26" HD LCD tv but as there is absolutely nothing on the telly in HD at the moment and not likely to be in the immediate future I decided to buy the projector for DVDs and gaming and keep the current crt for tv.

Still looking for an affordable screen though. I think i'll wait for the projector to arrive and see what size screen I require.
