Thanks: Gave 3, Got 21 | No-one's mentioning dust blobs on the new machines.
Last time the new range of projectors came out, the forums were alive with dust blob reports.
Mainly, if I recall, with the AE700, though I'm sure the other had their fair share.
this time around, no-one seems to be saying anything about the dust blob problem.
Do I assume this has been cured by better filtration in these new models out now, or whats going on?
This is one reason why I inititally had the Z4 down as my onlu choise due to the dust blob blasting holes.
What's going on, and why's no-one moaning about them now?

This is looking good.
55 views and not one comment, so shall I take this to mean there is zero problems with dust blobs on the new AE900, Z4, TX200 machines then?
When the AE700 etc came out all you used to hear (even straight after it's launch) were people moaning about the fresh green blobs on their screen caused by dust.
Looking good methinks |

Wait for spring cleaning and all that dust in the air.
I don't doubt the manufacturers are well aware of the dust issue and are making attempts to improve the situation but I'm sure it won't be too long before dusty D5's emerge.

where am I?
I have seen some threads dealing with dust blob...
I have posted one myself... nad I have pictured tooooo
because one appeared...
fortunately it is on the lower corner and usually out of picture, and I have not still tried to deal with it...
I did not find a disassemble guide and how to do it...
I am afraid to try to fix sth that works... it is irritating though when I rememebr and get my eyes down there...

Hi
I've had a Sanyo Z2 for almost 2 years now and never had a single dust blob. I had terrible problems with dust on both my previous projectors.
I had assumed the dust was no longer an issue. It'll be interesting to see if the newer models are affected.

Thanks for the replies.
The whole dust blob issue was the No.1 reason why I was going to go with a Z4 as Sanyo are the only manufacturer to have taken this seriously.
I'm not going to get a sony (expensive and small dots/screendoor issue)
The AE900 is getting an uncomfortable amount of screen lines/banding issues.
That leaves the Hitachi and the Z4.
From what I've read the Z4 may need a tad of tweaking out the box, wheras the Hitachi sounds like it comes spot on in this respect.
Is the Z4 the only machine you can clear dust blobs on without taking it apart?

I should point out you can get dust blobs on other parts than just the panels themselves, there's various other prisms, lens and mirrors inside. If the dust blob is in focus then it's probably on the panel (so big thumbs up if you've got a Z4). The one on my AE100 is a large round green blob in the center of dark screens so is somewhere else |

I thought all the postings I've ready about dust blobs talk about fuzzy large blobs which have been cleared in the past by blasting air over the panels.
I've never read on here about sharp crisp dust blobs in focus.
Confused now?
