Due to room size, my projector needs to go as close to the rear wall as possible.

Which of the current new big 3 LCD machines would be best for getting the unit as close as poss to the rear wall.

AE900, Z4, TX200

It will be mounted on a very open Video wall bracket which has lots of air available all the way round, but just as close as poss to the wall at the back.

I believe the tx200 sucks the air in from the sides and blows it out the front so can be mounted flush with the rear wall. Not sure about the others ...

Tx200 goes almost flush with the rear wall - you're probably looking at a good couple of inches off by the time you've connected power and video, but this will still be closer than those with rear vents.

Yes, I will have the normal fun of "How tight can you bend that thick power cable" and thinking why don't they make short/tight right angle plugs.

But yes, that would be fine.

Doesn't the Z4 mount flat on the wall with a mirror adapter to project image across the room like the Z2,3?

if the ae900 is the same as the ae700 then it also incorporates an excellent lense shift that allows you to almost put the projector in one corner and still project a straight image onto the wall infront....moreover it has an excellent throw range....

Could you please clarify the ability of optical lens shift on the 900 as a % of the screen width thanks.
