Thumbs up Panasonic PT AE100 in East Anglia

At last, I've found a dealer who has one!!!!!!
All the others I've phoned and seen don't have a clue. As soon as I asked this one, wow, instant, yes we have them. They'll phone me when another comes in for a viewing. They also asked about my viewing conditions, how I'll use it and that they also have the little 'blue' Sony there too. So I'll get a good comparison. For Suffolk, that's really good.

The dealer I am talking about deserves a bit of recognition-

System Sound
91 North Street
Sudbury
CO10 6RF

Phone- 01787 372348
Fax- 01787 881816

So I'm on the path to a projector too, hopefully.

I was a few hours from buying the Sony model until this one started getting some good hype.

I phoned them up to see what advice they would give and must have spoke to somebody different. They didnt have much advice for me (just said they are about the same in quality) which in a way is helpful if I want to save £200 over the Sony model.

If the image quality is the same on both models then...

Panasonic PTAE100E
http://www.panasonic.co.uk/nw/produc...asp?c=PTAE100E )

1. Has a connection for a PC built in
2. Widescreen 16:9
3. Can be mounted on the ceiling.
4. Looks ugly
5. £200 cheaper than the sony.

Sony VPL-HS1
http://www.sonyhomecinema.com

1. Free screen (while stocks last)
2. Looks stylish (Wife factor)
3. No 16:9
4. Table top mounted only
5. PC connection is an optional extra
6. Sony imo is a better brand

Considering the above I would go for the new Panasonic model and spend the extra £200 on a screen unless somebody who has seen both in action can tell me otherwise. I like the idea of ceiling mounting it (see website)

Krish are phoning me on Monday to see if they can offer it at a better price so will wait and see.

Thanks
Anim

I have the Pt-AE100, I have also seen the HS1 in action, the Panny blows the sony away, the sony also had really bad vertical lines. Check them out for your self, you will see what I am talking about.
And I will never buy another Sony Product

Thats the sort of reply that makes me all happy

Panasonic it is, I 99% knew this really, based on the value for money but your post has given me that last 1% needed to buy it.

Now all I need to find is a motorised screen or my wife won't let me have it...sigh

Oh, heres a question you be able to help me on.

The DVD player http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/5...vd-player.html I have supports S-Video out, this is ok but how can I also get the Sky Box to go into the projector at the same time...like some sort of switch box to swap between DVD and sky. I'm not even going to look at the video (its an old cheap one)

I have a little AV6 Scan Amp for the sound which is fine for the volume limit i have (paper walls and neighbours)

Thanks
Anim
