how's your Z2 connected/set-up? r u happy?

hi, i own a z2 and was wondering how everyone else connected it up, and what they thought about the picture quality?
please let me know;
1.the dvd player make and model
2.what connection you are using (and the length of cable) eg; component/dvi/.
3.what set up you are using on the player (if applicable) eg; upscaling etc..
4.or any other factors which may increase pq?
5.give the pq a score out of 10 (be honest!)
thanks

Hi there. I have the Z2 (for over 2 years now! And still on first bulb too!!!).

1.the dvd player make and model: Samsung HD745.
2.what connection you are using (and the length of cable) eg; component/dvi/.: DVI cable that came with the player, about 1m.
3.what set up you are using on the player (if applicable) eg; upscaling etc..
I use 720p upscaling on DVD's and DIVX files.
4.or any other factors which may increase pq?: Switch between Pal and NTSC depending on DVD you're watching.
5.give the pq a score out of 10 (be honest!) This totally depends on the disc you are using, but as an average I'd say 7.5, some movies are up there in a 9. (I'm saving the 10 for when I get to watch some true HD on it as my faithful old laptop hasn't got the oomph to play any

I've been really pleased with this player. It has allowed me to not only feed the Z2 with it's native resolution, but has given me a great picture, allowed me to play Divx files, and also let me experience SACD too. I know you can get the HD950 for about £120 from Richer Sounds, and this has HDMI rather than DVI. I believe it comes with a DVI-HDMI cable in the box too. (Please someone correct me if I'm wrong). This is the latest version of the player and also comes in black, if that's any use to you.
As a final note, if you haven't got any screen sorted out, I use one of the 6foot (ish) blinds from Ikea that only cost about £20, and it is great value.

Cheers,

Dean.

When i used to have my Z2, gave it to my brother in December when i got my H78, i used a HTPC as the main source via DVI and an xbox via component.
The HTPC did give very good picture quality but over the time of owning it i did feel i was missing something in the pq department, this was upgraditis kicking in.
Overall i did feel that it was a good pj and certainly a good starter pj, i owned it for over two years. At the time i would probably give the pq about 7 out of 10 but since passing it on and seeing other pjs i would say about 5.5.

I must say i have been really pleased with mine, i only bought it to see if i could live with a PJ,so i got a cheapish second hand unit, after playing around with the factory settings one evening, i managed to get it setup perfect for me.

I use it with a Pioneer 575 (component),a HTPC (dvi) and my xbox (component also) and i have been very impressed.

Fortunately i have had a decent bonus from work which means i can invest in a sanyo z4 now as it has a free bulb voucher.

But yep very impressed with what is a 3 yeard old model now.im expecting the z4 to be alot better, alot!

as above i bought mine as a first projector... i'm loving it, coming from a 25" crt it's a massive leap.

1. hooked up to a philips dvr1000 (or similar number, can't quite rememeber)
2. using a monster thx component cable 1m in length
3. no upscaling or anything, player is on progressive scan. some films look amazing (due to being very well shot, blade being an example) and others truly dire.
4. contrast and brightness isn't as good as current models but then that's to be expected really... i'm not gonna moan about it for the price i paid.
5. out of 10? for me it's a 9 when all HD'd up, an 8 when playing dvds and a p!ss poor 4 for the odd occasion i hook it up to the freeview box but that's all down to the box itself and not the projector.
