Lost Component in for HD....Please Help

First off let me say thanks for any help or suggestions that are given.

Ok here is my problem. I have an Hitachi CP-S318W LCD projector. It was working fine one day, next thing I know I'm getting no input from my component in on the projector. I did what everyone else would and tried new cables different video sources, nothing worked on component in, which also provides my HD. The only thing I can think is lightning? Anyway, I thought about sending it for repairs, when I started reading the forums and found out about a Component to RGB cable that would still provide my HD provided my projector supported sync on green. At least this is what I thought. Well the projector does have a sync on green option in the menu, so I ordered the cable. When I got the cable and plugged everything up, I got a very scrambled, greenish tinted picture that I can't even tell what's going on.

I have verified that the RGB input for the projector works fine with by hooking up my laptop and all other inputs work as well, I was just trying to avoid a major repair cost if I could get HD TV from the RGB input.

Again, thanks for any help. I probably just did not read enough in the forums and the answer is out there somewhere.

NEED HD FOR THE SUPERBOWL!!

Have you checked the settings for your component in in the actual projector menu? I've had similar issues, which were caused by the projector settings being set for 'Progressive scan' when the source was on Interlaced, and vice versa.

Probably a silly suggestion and something you checked, but mentioning it doesn't hurt anybody

It would raise the question how the setting got changed though, but perhaps you share the house with others who might've pushed some (wrong) buttons
