Help me find a new projector

Hi!
I'm looking for a new projector. I have these requirements:

1. Throw distance 480 cm (minus the depth of the projector?)
2. Viewing distance approx 320 cm.
3. LCD (or DLP with no rainbow effect..)
4. 16:9
5. 1280x720
6. Price: well below $1000, used/second hand.

Projectorcentral.com couldn't help me, can you?

Every member of this board is also looking for the same magic deal.

The cheapest that's gonna meet your requirements is probably a second hand Panasonic AE500. Try ebay.

Maybe. I do in particular need a proj with good zoom, since I'll be sitting closer to the screen than the projector will be.

Sanyo Z3 is probably your best bet and should meet all your spec demands although is likely to be a bit above your budget (around £700 new if you can find one). I believe there may be a company based in germany still selling them (try a search on the forums). In any event, you should be looking for any deals (probably second hand) on the Panasonic PT-AE500 (as previously suggested), Panasonic PT-AE700, Sanyo Z3 or Hitachi PJ-TX100. The models listed are the cheapest (and mostly discontinued) Hi Def projectors around and all give a pretty good picture. Anything else is likely to be unsuitable or way above your price range.

Cheers,

Voo
