i have a et 1 and am very happy it is not very noisy however it does have some fan noise
however if you can aford a little more you could get a 4805 for £700 i viewed one before i got my et1 and it is much better (got to good deal in the et1 otherwise i would of had a 4805)

I've had an ET1 for just over a month and I am still amazed by it...visitors are literally stunned when they see the 90" screen. It's my first projector and I've already put over 200 hours on it. I use it for all my viewing. Freeview looks really good on it and I've just finished watching Lord of the Rings extended edition...looked great.
I'm just projecting onto a coffee coloured wall as I tried a proper screen but found the picture too bright. The darker wall gives good blacks.
The fan in low lamp mode is quiet but a bit noisy in standard mode. There isn't much difference in brightness between modes so I always use low.
The only fault I can find is the lack of a zoom lens. Since the projector is short throw this means it has to sit on the coffee table in front of me.

All in all though I'd say go for it.

I've had mine for a few months now, by far the best value bit of electronics I've ever bought.

Best setup for DVD is via component, if your DVD player has a 'progressive scan' mode try it with and without that to see if the DVD or PJ has a better deinterlacer (I use a Pio 575 with prog. scan).

My Toshiba ET1 arrived on Thurs up and running by Fri, can't beleive how great the picture is.The only thing i am worried about is people saying the lamp life is a bit iffy, anyone know if this is true or is it just your luck when the bulb goes. Going to mount it on the ceiling anyone know the best place to buy a ceiling bracket

According to Toshiba it was only the first batch of ET1's that suffered from premature bulb failure due to faulty bulbs , got over 500 hrs on my ET1 and still going strong (well it was last time I used it) .
