Video source question

I am very close to ordering a Sanyo Z4, I also have the Toshiba 220se DVD player. My question is hooking it up to the PJ. I have a Denon AVC-A10SE surround amp which I use, it says in the manual that the two component video inputs are progressive scan, and there is 1 component output.

Would I be right in thinking that if I run component out from the dvd into the Denon and then output it to the PJ, it would give me a better picture than going from the DVD player direct to the PJ? I was not sure if the Z4 took a progressive input or not, or whether or not I have totally confused myself by bogging myself down with toooo much tech stuff about video signals. if anybody could explain it to me in simple terms it would be great.

I think the fundamental answer is try it and see!

For me the AV amps are great at being switches which enable you to simplify cabling, but at the end of the day you can't beat an unbroken link from source to display, unless the amp is doing some seriously good stuff... and if it did why would we need scalers?

Good luck...PJ

I suppose that would be the thing to do, I am not saying its going to do the same but years ago when I purchased the old VHS recorder the pic quality always seemed better if I left it on the video channel and changed program via the recorder, as if the signal was getting a slight boost.
Thanks anyway.
