Hitachi TX100: "Please replace the lamp and then reset the timer"?

Hi,

My TX100 has clocked up 1700hr on the lamp timer and when I powered it on yesterday, the above message appeared which I was kind of expecting.

However, the brightness of the TX100 seems to be pretty much the same as when I brought it from day one and when I change the Iris from 1 to 10, each increment gives a dramatic increase in the light output of the TX100 which suggest that there is still life in these bulbs yet.

I did reset the lamp timer in order to get rid of the above message but did not replace the lamp and asside from the 'fluttering' I get with this TX100 (constant change in the TX100's light output every 5 secs) it is running as normal - btw how do I know what lamp to replace?

What does everyone advise and is there any TX100 owners who have clocked over 2000hr?

At a guess this is an internal software driven threshold which acts as a simple reminder. It wouldn't surprise me if it appeared every 100hrs from now on to "nag" you - but that's just a guess.

You don't have to replace the lamp until there's a dramatic degredation in light output, from what i've read lamps can be fine until they are very near their last legs.

You'll need to go to a specialist lamp supplier to get one, they are a few hundred quid I think. It will be a specific lamp for the TX100.

Must say the constant fluttering in light output you describe sounds very annoying and I'm surprised you are putting up with it...PJ

I've recently looked for a replacement lamp for my TX100 as a backup and they can be had for less then 150 quid which is a result.

PJTX100,

As my PJ is no longer under warranty, theres nothing I can do but put up with the constant 'fluttering' and it seems this is a common problem with TX100s? In a sense I put up with it because I see myself being lucky enough that it has managed to clock up as many hour as it has.

cyberheater,

Is £150 the cheapest you can get a TX100 replacement bulb for and does that include delivery?

Does anyone else knows a cheaper price and are TX100 owners going to replacement the bulbs on their PJ or upgrade to the TX200?

for less then 150 quid. Not sure if it also includes delivery.

The bulb is the DT00661

Do a google for it.

I've got a TX100 which occasionally has a flickering problem. It randomly comes and goes. I suspect its temperature related. Its better than it was in summer and i've taken the fan off whisper mode.
