After having had multiple demos of the SIM2 Domino H20
and reading many of the posts I was just about to make
my "final" decision and go that way. However talking to
the folk at Uvem (the home theatre PC people) they were
recommending that I should go high definition and might regret
it if I don't. The Screenplay 7205 looks attractive and about
the same price as a Domino 20, Any thoughts out there ?
More resolution or the benefits of the SIM2 (colour wheel, optics
etc). So far I've not been able to see a 7205 demo

Tomorrow I'm off to see a high definition demo using the UVEM
PC as a source although ironically they are using a Domino H20
to display so I guess this would scale the 720P source to
570 lines. They claim it still looks awesome though !

If you are spending in the region of £3000 you should be considering a projector that is hi def ready with a resolution of 1280 x 780.The Sim20H is a nice projector but it now seems overpriced in relation to HI def ready projectors.

As you mentioned something like the Infocus 7205 or the Optoma h79 are popular models and are hi-def ready.

If you enjoyed the Sim2 then you could consider the 30H model but this will probably set you back around £4000.

infocus 7210 can be had for 2500 from luzerntech (ebay). Amazing kit for the cash!

Having been fortunate enough to have had all the PJs that you mentioned here, albeit briefly, the H79 is the one you want.

Id def say the H79, best 720p single chppier out there equiped with DC3 for your price range, though Mitsubishi have a HC3000 coming out soon with brilliant colour, you might wanna check that out!

3 chip 1400x1050 LCOS 4:3 , great with pixel perfect HTPC over DVI and only £2400.

Not perfect as no HDCP, but not a problem for HTPC use.

Would be a good choice for many until 3 chip DLP is affordable.

I like 4:3 as I am a keen photographer, viewing 4:3 photographs does not look too good on a 16:9 screen

H79 is great though for the price.

I guess single chip DLP prices should fall heavily next year when 3 chip DLP becomes more mainstream and costs less than a car !

Another vote for the H79 - its near silent running, inclusion of lens shift, three year warranty allied to an excellent image quality make it a difficult act to match or better.

It works well with SD and ED sources and excels with HD sources - used in conjunction with a HTPC or external Video Processor and configured/calibrated by someone with the correct tools and know how and you'll embarrass a fair few DLP and LCD projectors costing much more than the H79's £3k UK SRP.
