Benq 5120 questions - again

Been using the Benq for a while now... and am really enjoying it. My mates seem to enjoy it just as much.. just the word benk.. and they smile.

Anyway... it has started to develop a metal ticking noise on start up for 2minutes.. the kind of noise you get as my Peugeot 106 used to make after it was warm and i stopped..
Worrying that it may be indicative of a problem in the future. Any ideas what it is please?

Also, I was reading that you should clean filters etc for better life, but the manual doesnt state that you should do this?

Would be grateful if someone could tell me if its worth doing with the 5120?

Cheers for your help

5120 doesn't have removable filters, therefore no need to clean.

Clicking noise is a known fault with the colour wheel. Benq will replace if you contact their service centre.

Ian.

The noise has only just started now, after around 70hrs of use.
Its sounds metallic.
Would they just replace the wheel, or swap the unit?

Cheers for the filter advice

I always thought it was pronounced Ben - Que. Like two words.

Not sure.
Just know that my m8s were very dubious of me buying a budget benk... thought it sounded like a Del Boy special....
Now the term brings beaming grins

I don't know if anyone realises, but Benq and Acer are the same company.

smashed

Mine started after 5 minutes. Sounds like an old movie projector. Contacted them and they had a replacement despatched to me in 3 days.

I have a 5120 and have a humming noise coming from inside...enough to distract you during a film...it doesn't appear to be coming from any of the fans, only from right inside the pj...anyone else heard of this...before I send it back...

I have never heard of that noise.
You could always ring their customer support and see what they say.
Nothing to lose
