Should reducing the White peaking on my H30a reduce the occurence of rainbows??? Do all projectors have this???

White peaking is the DMD operating during the spoke time of the RGB wheel - normaly the DMD is switched off during spoke time so that you get DMD modulation only when there is a complete segment of colour available. Switching on white peaking adds extra light to the image (with bursts of parts of two segements at once) but it can often have a negative impact on image quality, giving very hot whites and possibly exaggerating image noise. It can effect the image greyscale too. It can be used if you have some lights on or for watching during the day, but for fully light controlled movie watching it should be off IMHO. Some use it for watching sports when they have friends round for a few beers for example.

It may reduce rainbow visibility as some people find rainbows worse with brighter images.
