Best Way to run Sky+ through PJ?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find this question here and I've been looking for more time than I care to admit.

What is the best way to run Sky+ through my BenQ 7700? The only way I can think of is running it through S-Video? I'll be getting Sky HD next year all going well, but I would like a decent pic running until that time arrives.

Thanks guys
Spike

Check your manual to see if the 3 bnc's for the computer input accept a 15hz signal. If they do then get a scart to 3 bnc cable from Keene or lektropaks or whoever. When you set your Skybox to output RGB you should see a picture that is better than S-Video.

a (more) costly way is to use an rgb to component convertor, seen here ... .

connect your sky box to the convertor via scart cable, and then connect the convertor to your receiver via component cable, admittedly an expensive solution.

And also one that introduces unnecessary signal conversion.

does this unneccessary signal conversion degrade the sky+ signal in any way?

Better yet, slap it through a Lumagen, or equivalent deinterlacer/scaler box of tricks, to get near HiDef quality. Not a cheap option, though, it has to be said.

Regards

I hope not as it is the route I am taking and I have been told it will not degrade it in any way at all !

If they've done a good job then it's probably not noticable. RGB and component are almost the same thing. To spend more to do the same or possibly a worse job doesn't make sense to me.

As my signature, the Packard Bell TV100 capturing via svideo, I tried a sweetspot via rgb but couldn't notice any improvement, probably due to sky's poor bitrate. Dscaler of course completes the package.

I've no experience with the card you linked to.

What is good about the PB tv100 was that it has a very clean svideo capture, thats all I use it for, you get them from PC World, the last i bought for a friend was £19.99.
