need some urgent help from any z3 owners!!!

ive just got my sanyo z3 today and ive gota say im blown away by the picture, but i have 1 little problem, i think i may have made a mistake on buying this screen!!
it does not seem to have horisontal keystone corection , only up and down!
i take it this means i cant have this projector at the side of my room!!
is this correct?

Screens don't have side to side keystone correction.

Your Z3 should have vertical and horizontal lens shift for that purpose.

Have a look in your manual.

the reason i ask is that they have a panny ae500 where i work and its placed at the side of the room and on it oyu get 2 different keystone setting

There is horizontal and vertical lens shift. Not in menu since its not powefed one in this price range. Its near front of lens those 2 sliders. Keystone correction should be avoided since it affects picture quality.

Virtually every PJ has vertical keystone correction but not many have horizontal correction too. Perhaps the ae500 is one of them?

The lens shift function on the Z3 will allow you some small scope for positioning but you won't be able to get too far away from the fundamental requirement of positioning the PJ central to the screen (in the horizontal plane) - and the further you try the more it will reduce (slightly) the picture quality.

PJ's are fantastic machines but they may require a few compromises for setup, and a few awkward conversations with the other half!...PJ

Having said that, the Z3's screen adjust is quite impressive. It will shift the entire screen half a screen's width left or right, and a whole screen's height up or down, all without the need for any keystone correction. Though, if you have it at an extreme, either way, then that will slightly limit movement in the perpendicular, if that makes any sense? It's done using the thumbwheels either side of the lens and is entirely manual.

Yep, but that's still not a license to place it in the corner of a room. And even optical lens shift can introduce some anomilies if used to the extremes eg uneven focus across the pic.

Optical lens shift is great but it should be viewed as a fine tuning aid which facilitates things like being able to sit the PJ snug to the ceiling...PJ
