Post New 16:9 LCD projector from Sanyo

Hi.

There's a new LCD projector from Sanyo that uses the 'same' 16:9 panels that the VPL-VW10HT from Sony does, with 1366x768 resolution. It has a much better contrast (claims 700:1) and 1200 ANSI lumens.
Actually it's not that new, since it was first presented at CES a year ago, but I think that the specs look very nice and it might just cope with the 'black level' issue that dismiss so many from the Sony.
By the way, the model is the PLV-60 and you can check further details at:
http://grobi.tv/scripts/index.cfm/Fu...Details/ID/309

Anyone has further details or care to comment?

Use the online translator @ http://babelfish.altavista.com/translate.dyn

Just type in the web address of the german site above, choose German to English and away you go. Not perfect but you'll be able to make out the important bits.

PS Bablefish is alsouseful for bypassing sweep software for those of you behind a fire wall. Well sort of anyway.

Me thinks I will stick with buying the PLV30, the 60 looks well out of my price range and its too big! I dont have the room for it.

Price is a key issue with all projectors. Sanyo are working hard on getting the price right for when they launch this unit.

That's about all I can say for the time being.

Same price as the PLV30 sounds "right" to me ;-).

I will be very interested in the price once you are able to say something. Could you wait till the weather is a bit better for us travelling to Glasgow, though ;-).

Cheers,
Liam

After the projector shootout results between the PLV30, HT200 and the VPL-VW10HT, I guess this machine may be very interesting.

I think that if Sanyo does it's numbers well, the projector will be in the same price range than the Sony. If not, it won't capture the necessary attention from the HT market.
This is definately a HT product made for the HT market and it's been on hold almost 1 year now, probably trying to solve some issues that came up during pre-production. Everybody knows exactly what people expect from a 'good' HT projector, so with tight competition from Sony, Sim2, Sharp, etc.., it would be a waste to produce a product to be DOA.

Let's wait and see...

NS

PS : If you check the page below there will be a pop up window with a picture and a pdf download to what it seems a clone of the new Sanyo PLV60. (http://www.eiki.de/index.shtml)

AVS forum also calls the projector the EIKI LC-VC1 (the same as the Sanyo PLV 60) and both are said to ship early April (in the USA).

Price thought to be $6k, double the PLV 30. I bet we won't get Sanyo PLV 60 for £4k over here. £6k maybe.
