DLP with lens shift ?

Hi,

After being mightly impressed with what I saw of DLP at the Bristol Show (especially liked the Screenplay 7205), I'm thinking of upgrading my Z2 sometime soon. Trouble is, I can't find anything in the DLP world that has the same lens-shift capabilites as most of the LCD offerings ... or at least not in the 7205 and below price bracket. I'm really looking for something as quiet (or quieter) as the Z2, with the same placement flexibility, and a native 720p resolution. Any ideas ?

What price is the 7205? Off the top of my head the cheapest 720p DLP I can think of is the H78, which has vertical shift, horizontal seems pretty rare in the DLP world.

7205 is around £3.5k, although I'd like to pay less.

Then again, if I can't find something with decent lens shift, I'll just stump up for an HS50 to tide me over (oh ... poor me

Well, the H78 is around 3.5K

The vertical shift works up to about 1/2 screen height, so it's not the most flexible, but it's one of the quietest PJs you'll get for any price and certainly quieter than a Z2.

I think your going to have to wait a long time. For some reason. DLP manufacturers don't off the same levels of flexibility that LCD manufacturers do at the mo which for some folks is a good enough reason to go LCD (and who could blame them).

It can be a real pain setting up some DLP machines but the results are worth it.

All SIM2 projectors have lens shift and motorised zoom & focus. The Domino 30H is the one to go for if you are looking for a 720p projector and retails for £4500.

If your budget is tight then you have the option of the Domino 18 at £2295 or the 20H at £2999, again all with lens shift.

I suspect that it was. A very good demo too!

I concur with Alan here. As a SIM2 owner the lens shift is invaluable ~ however, it is only vertical, not horizontal.

The H78 has a magnificent PQ. Blacks are _solid_ no ants, no shimmer. Really impressive, and can be found reasonably cheaper than this... Unfortunately lens shift works only in the direction to lower the picture respect to the projector and not to rise it (and it has 0 offset) which can cause some placement problem. If you can afford it and live with limited placement options that would be my choice. Furthermore it is virtually silent.
