I heard that the Z2000 is absolutely stunning, however, there is the overscan issue which hasn't been resolved yet. It's one of the cheapst HD DLP projectors. It's at the top of my wish (along with the HS50). Unfortunately, I havn't seen it personally, since it's not available at the shops I've been to. Somehow I've got to test it......

I've read a couple of reviews for the Sharp XV-Z2000 in the UK mags (Home Cinema Choice & What Projector) Both gave great reviews (5 stars in the latter). However they quote an ansilumens of 1500, as does the UK Sharp website. However around the world the various Sharp websites state the ansilumen level to be 1200. Can any UK dealers confirm that the Sharp model is 1500? Surely the spec for one country won't differ from the rest of the world?? I also noted in Home Cinema Choice one retailer was selling this for an unbelievable £1999, so its gone to the top of my shopping list!

Advertised figures are rarely accurate and you can easily reduce them by 40% to get somewhere close to the real lumens. Projector Centrals' reviewers measured the Z2000 at 470 Lumens (60% less than the 1200 adveertised) which is a tad less than the Optoma H77 at 510, so it's a comparable figure.

Some pjs have certain brightness features which compromise image quality for video, so although they give a much brighter image (950 lumens for the Sharp here), you wouldn't want to have them turned on when watching movies.

Having now read so many threads advising that the Themescene H78 or Infocus 7205/7210 are better projectors than the Sharp XV-Z2000, could anyone comment if they compare in terms of screen size throw. It seems the Sharp has an impressive short throw, ideal for my situation as I have a max throw of 3.5 metres and want a big screen!

The H78 is 1.6 and the 7205 is 1.67 throw from what i understand, as these two will just fit my screen size and throw.

The only major issue i have read concerning the Sharp is that it will not scale 1080i material to its native 720, you will need an external solution for this, but i think that most hd devices or hcpc will do this for you anyway.

I had an extensive demo of the Sharp at the Bristol show back in Feb. Personally, I think it is a superb PJ with a great, great picture. Nice and bright, great black level and a picture with punch. Lots of options to tweak the Picture too.

Cosmetically it is a great looking machine but the short throw did not suit my needs.

The pj's for 1999 are from a German retailer, I have no idea the impact that has on any warranty.

Right I have it, Got the screen up then realised its not the size I ordered.

But so far the picture is incredible, but completely useless in anything but complete darkness.

Got a higher gain screen coming so should be interesting.

Thats suprising considering the high Lumens figure.

My Lounge has 5 2m x 3m windows which provide alot of light.

I'll let you know how it looks with the diffeerent screen.
