does anybody no if i could fit a home cinema and a projector in a room mesureing 8 foot wide and 10 ft long the screen im thinking of using will be 5 ft wide 16 x9

May be a bit cosy, and will only be a "few people" room, but it's certainly do-able.

Yes, all you'd need is a short throw lens. The Hitachi PJ-TX100 or Sanyo PLV-Z3 are both quite short throw and give lens shift to make installation easier.
