Question ae700 problem?

HI guys, well had my ae700 for about a month now, got 60 hours on it .connected to pioneer 565a through a mark grant 1m component cable and to my pc through vga. now my problem is when using the 565a there is a ghosting around all objects it seems to be getting worse, the ghosting is not as pronounced on the vga connection but still there. my question is . if i am sending a 1280x720 signal from my pc to the ae700 and i display the service menu crosshatch i should see just the black background and the hatch pattern should be one continuous colour Yes?. but i can see the black background and the hatch pattern lines are all out of alignment I:E i can see a green cross then slightly to the left a blue one then slightly to the right a red one . now this to me looks like the panels are not aligned correctly like bad convergence on a crt or projection tv, is your ae700 the same am i being paranoid, but the edging round peoples faces and the like. is really starting to distract me from my film enjoyment. any advice would be appreciated. cheers Mike

P:S forgot to mention there is a line right across the screen at the top and at the bottom about 1 pixel wide now this is there whether viewing a full-screen pic or a wide screen film i:E lotr.

Hi Mickey.

From reading the review of the AE700 on cine4home it seems that the more lens shift you use the more out of convergence the PJ's image becomes. From your description it sounds like you're on the limit of your PJ's lens shift - if you're not using a lot of lens shift I can only think your PJ may have a problem and would probably be best looked at by a Panansonic technician. Fingers crossed it's the lens shift issue

Mark

Looks like the panels are very slightly out of alignment there and will need looking at by an engineer. I am surprised you can see those marks however as they are really quite small scale given a reasonable viewing distance. Panasonic will take it back however and will probably take 2 or so weeks to get it back to you.

Hi , I sit about 3 metres away from a 7ft screen and it is the white lines ringing that really does my head in, especially around peoples heads, just looks weird . the second pic shows the white line edges more , imagine that round virtually every edge on a screen and I think you would notice it as well . i think I will get panasonic to look at it, anyone know how I go about this?. cheers Mike

ring panasonic with your serial number to hand and they will book it in for you. I believe the number is 08705 357 357.

Your pictures look like they have excessive edge enhancement, have you tried turning down the sharpness control to see if it makes any difference?

not using any sharpness at all even had the sharpness control down to its minimum setting which is about -8 i think the pics i posted were actually at minus 4 sharpness, but the picture is totally unwatchable even at that setting looks totally out of focus, i will post the original pics on my website to show you the picture i actually see. cheers Mike

Ae700 Problem

I think you and i (mickey) is good to exhange our email address having the same projector attached to computer via vga.

I use it to play games and watch movies.

Do you think they are dust? I don't think so. They appear after 15 minutes of usage. At first they are few then they increase and change color from white to green. And i notices that they are attracted to some type of color shade, not on all colors.

Something straange is that when i change from desk to ceiling they dissapear, even when i change from front to rear. It seems that there is a circuit and the front/desk has been damged or something.

Now my problem is that I live in Malta and there is no agent in here. I bought it online from singapore and they want me to send it back. Its really expensing to send it via fedex or ups. I am trying to send it to uk or italy, but they told me that you will lose your warranty. I am still waiting for them. Really dissapointed.

Have you solved your problem.

Hi Jef if you only use it with the pc, can you not flip the image using the pc graphics card driver , then flip the image again with the ae700e ceiling mode to at least get a temporary solution to the problem. I havnt actually seen a problem like yours on any panny projector before.

not a bad idea but..

Yes i ve tried that, for movies its ok but to play games its horrible slow. Flipping or rotating software wise is not the best idea.

what i could do is turn the projector upside down and switch to ceiling mode.

But having payed good money for it, i want it fixed by panasonic.

their customer care is slow and hopeless.
