Laptop Connection Problem

Hi

Hope someone can help with this,

I have just purchased a NEC VT440k and am trying to connect to my laptop, however no matter what cable connection I use, there are no desktop icons or programs showing. The screen projects the PC bootup sequence and then shows the PC wallpaper only with the XP logo,

The strange thing is, if I change the desktop, the projector shows this, but no mouse or icons or programs.

Any ideas please.

Toshiba laptop XP home SP2

I think you may have to enable the external connection on the laptop. I had the same with my Tosh - shows the logo then nothing on the PJ. Dare I say RTFM ;-) - you use a function key to toggle between laptop screen, external, or both IIRC.
